Piper-Heidsieck was founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. His ambition was to create a Champagne worthy of a queen, and that same year he presented his wine to Marie Antoinette. His nephew Christian Heidsieck later continued the business and joined forces with businessman Henri-Guillaume Piper. This partnership eventually gave rise to the Champagne House we know today as Piper-Heidsieck.
Based in Reims, Piper-Heidsieck is known for its lively, fruit-driven and expressive style, with pinot noir playing an important role. Under the direction of Cellar Master Émilien Boutillat, Piper-Heidsieck combines its long tradition with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. The house is B Corp certified. The Best Piper-Heidsieck Champagnes
At Champagneshop, you will find a selection of Piper-Heidsieck Champagnes, ranging from the classic Cuvée Brut to rosé and the drier Essentiel Extra Brut. These are some of the key cuvées in our selection:
- Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Brut: the classic signature cuvée of the house. Pinot noir forms an important part of the blend and is combined with meunier and chardonnay. A lively and fruit-driven Champagne that combines freshness with structure.
- Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage: a powerful and expressive rosé in which pinot noir takes centre stage. A proportion of the pinot noir is added as red wine, contributing to its deep colour and pronounced fruit character, with aromas including wild strawberry, black cherry and blood orange.
- Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Blanc de Blancs: an Extra Brut Champagne made from 100% chardonnay. Its style is fresh, precise and mineral, with notes of citrus, white flowers and toasted bread. The low dosage and extended ageing result in a refined, gastronomic Champagne with a fresh, subtly saline finish.
