Dom Pérignon champagne
About the Champagne House
Dom Pérignon is named after the French monk Dom Pierre Pérignon, who became the cellar master at the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668 and elevated winemaking in the Champagne region to a new level. Originally created as the prestige cuvée of the champagne house Moët & Chandon, it is now established as an independent luxury brand. Dom Pérignon is recognized as a Cuvée de Prestige and is considered one of the most prestigious champagnes in the world.
Every bottle of Dom Pérignon is a vintage: the champagne is crafted exclusively from the finest grapes harvested in exceptional years. The wine then matures in the cellars for a minimum of eight years before its release. This combination of craftsmanship, patience, and uncompromising quality makes every bottle of Dom Pérignon a unique and luxurious experience. Learn more about the Dom Pérignon champagne atelier.
The Best Dom Pérignon Champagnes
At Champagneshop, you will find a carefully curated collection of Dom Pérignon. From the iconic Vintage to the rare Rosé and festive magnum bottles:
- Dom Pérignon Vintage: The classic. An elegant and harmonious vintage champagne, composed of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The blend varies by vintage, giving each release its own distinct character.
- Dom Pérignon Rosé: Released only in exceptional years, making it incredibly rare. A powerful and unique rosé champagne for the true connoisseur.
- Dom Pérignon Magnum: The same refined style and quality, but in a larger format. It makes for an extra festive uncorking and is ideal for larger groups. Furthermore, champagne matures more slowly and often more gracefully, in a magnum bottle.

Tasting Profile and Food Pairing
Dom Pérignon is renowned for its complex and layered flavor profile. Crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it matures in the cellars for at least eight years. This extended aging creates a signature profile: notes of ripe yellow fruit, almond, and honey, combined with a smoky minerality and typical brioche and toasted nuances. The mousse is creamy and refined. While many champagnes focus on being fresh and fruity, Dom Pérignon is defined by depth and harmony. Each vintage possesses its own unique character, shaped by the harvest year.
What to pair with Dom Pérignon?
Dom Pérignon is an exceptional gastronomic champagne that excels at the dining table. Some classic pairings:
- Aperitif: Pure enjoyment, perhaps with a refined amuse-bouche like caviar or oysters.
- Shellfish: Lobster, langoustines, or scallops with a light butter sauce.
- Fish: Turbot, sea bass, or smoked eel.
- White meat and poultry: Veal, chicken, or guinea fowl with creamy sauces or truffle.
- Cheeses: Aged Comté, Parmesan, or Brie de Meaux.
Due to its intensity, the Dom Pérignon Rosé is also excellent when paired with light meat dishes such as rack of lamb or duck.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dom Pérignon
How long can you store Dom Pérignon?
On average, Dom Pérignon can be stored for 10 to 15 years, sometimes even longer. Thanks to the exceptional quality of the grapes and the long aging process, this prestige cuvée develops beautifully in the bottle, revealing deeper and more complex flavors as the years pass.

How much does a bottle of Dom Pérignon cost?
The price of Dom Pérignon varies depending on the vintage, format, and any limited editions. In our collection, the Vintage starts at around €200. For a magnum bottle (1.5 liters), you can expect to pay approximately €600, and the rare Rosé is priced around €450.
Is Dom Pérignon brut?
Yes, Dom Pérignon is always released as a Brut. "Brut" means the champagne is dry, with a maximum of 12 grams of residual sugar per liter. Therefore, you primarily taste the wine itself: fruit, freshness, and minerality, without overt sweetness.
Which Dom Pérignon vintages are the best?
Dom Pérignon is only produced in exceptional harvest years, so every vintage is of high quality. The vintages differ mainly in style: 2013 is cool, fresh, and built to age; 2015 is riper and rounder (rated 97 points by James Suckling); and 2017 is the most recent release. The 2010 Rosé is acclaimed by critics as one of the best rosés currently available.
What is the difference between Dom Pérignon Luminous and the standard Vintage?
The champagne itself is identical. The difference lies in the bottle: the Luminous edition features a light-up label that you can activate with a button. This makes it particularly popular at parties, in hospitality settings, and as a spectacular gift. It makes no difference to the taste.
