About Takashi Murakami

Takashi Murakami (born 1962) is a contemporary Japanese artist renowned for his work in painting, sculpture, and media art. He is the founder of Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. and the creator of the “Superflat” movement, which merges traditional Japanese aesthetics with pop culture into sleek, vibrant compositions. His signature motifs—such as the colorful smiling flowers—have become a global visual trademark.
