Bollinger and the World of James Bond
Bollinger was first referenced in Ian Fleming’s 1956 novel ‘Diamonds Are Forever’. The champagne made its film debut in ‘Moonraker’ (1979) and has since appeared regularly throughout the James Bond series.
Assemblage
The blend consists of 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier. A large share of the grapes comes from premier and grand cru vineyards. The champagne ages for at least thirty months in the cellars, with a dosage of 8 g/l.
Tasting Notes
Bollinger Special Cuvée is characterised by:
- a golden colour and fine mousse
- aromas of ripe fruit and subtle spice
- notes reminiscent of baked apple and peach
- a full, layered and balanced palate
Food Pairing
This champagne is suitable as an aperitif, and pairs well with:
- sushi and sashimi
- poultry, white meats, Parmesan and ham
- shellfish
